Building backlinks is immensely important when it comes to marketing your website. All the major search engines use backlinks to determine your pagerank. 80% of Google users click the first link when they search for something, and if you can get that #1 spot, you will never have trouble getting traffic to your site. Here are six ways you can build backlinks to your site:

6. Forum Posting : By forum posting, I don’t mean going around to lots of forums and making spam posts. These posts usually get deleted, and it’s not really going to do you any good. What I mean is to find forums relevant to your site, make a few posts in a bunch of different threads, and then find ways to promote your site that are within the rules of the forum. Signature links are good, as they will be counted every time you make a post.


5. Link Exchange: Lots of other upcoming sites looking for links will be willing to do this. You provide a link to someone else’s site, and they link to yours. There are also companies that will help these sites find each other. I haven’t tried these sites, so I can’t comment on them This can be unreliable though, as you can never be sure if these people will actually link to your site or not.

4. Social Networking: Depending on the type of site you have, sites like Facebook and Myspace can be very helpful to you. While it is less common now, people who had thousands of Myspace friends could make money by sending bulletins to all of their friends. Put a link in your profile, start a facebook group, find creative ways to get your link out there without spamming. This method is also good because you can also probably build some traffic off of these links as well.

3.Social Bookmarking: Sites like Digg and StumbleUpon are incredibly helpful. It’s easy to get a link up, and if you are lucky you get high up on their rankings, and get a decent amount of traffic. It’s quick, it’s easy, and there are a ton of them out there. Check out the ‘Bookmark’ button at the bottom of this article to see a list of all the major bookmarking sites.

2.Directories: There are a ton of directories online. You submit your site, and you have a link from a high PR site just like that. These are a quick and easy way to get a bunch of backlinks to your site. In a couple of days I’ll have a huge list of directories you can submit to.

1.Article Directories: This is the best method for building links to your sites. I’ve talked about article directories before, and their benefits are apparent. Not only do you get a backlink from the directories, but when people use your articles on their site, you will get links from them. One article can nab you 20-30 links! A few of these in a few different directories, and you’ll have a few more PR points in no time.
